Ok so I've been told that my blogs are primarily negative. So in response I am going to try and change that. Maybe. Well don't have much to say about my day that is positive, but how about I tell you all a bit of a story. Most of you know it...but maybe some of you don't. The only thing I ask is that NO ONE starts calling me Charles. Please.
So, when I was younger I might have been a tad ugly. Ok that was probably the understatement of the century. I was REALLY fugly. Maybe I wasn't actually ugly, but I have the WORST hair and wore the WORST clothing. I basically wore boys clothing until I was.. hmm..17? And I had very short hair from about the age of 8 till ... 14? I also didn't wear much make up, which didn't help matters. Ps, did I mention that I had a mullet for at least a good 4 years?
I'm not quite sure when these stories occurred, or even which one happened first..but I think the Charles story is by far the best to start with.
So one day I was sitting in the Dauphin hospital with Lyle (my dad), waiting for my mom to get some tests done. We had be sitting there for quite some time, when a nurse came out and went up to the mom and little boy sitting beside us. She had a clip board and asked the boy if his name was Charles. Well the boy said no. The nurse then came over to me and my dad and asked ME if my name was Charles. Well clearly it is not. To make matters worse I just said no, and my dad just sat there and said nothing. Well that is until the nurse walked away, at which time he started laughing hysterically.
The second story occurred one night while I was out at bingo with my mother and grandma. We had to sit quite close to some other ladies and I was forced to sit right beside this old woman. She proceeded to ask me ALL kinds of questions .. basically learning my entire life story. At one point she turned and faced me and said, I quote, "You are going to make a fine husband one day." Ps. I was wearing PINK shorts, a PINK dot shirt AND a PINK hat. Did I really look like that much of a boy?
Don't know how great those stories are, but people usually laugh when I tell them. Hope I made someone laugh.
p.s. Don't let your little girl cut their hair short and ALWAYS dress them in girls clothing. ALWAYS.
